Welcome to Student Services
The Student Services Department, located at the Tehachapi Unified School District (TUSD) office, is the department supporting the school sites in handling exceptional student issues, such as academic delays, behavior problems, and general assessment and evaluation. Student Services supports all Special Education programs, the Section 504 program, Psychological services, Speech Language services, Related services (Adapted Physical Education, Assistive Technology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy), and Health services.
The Department also acts as the District liaison with outside agencies including the Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS) office and the Kern County Consortium SELPA. Together we plan and provide educational programs for students with disabilities in partnership with general education staff, administrators, and parents.
The 2017-18 adacemic year features new Special Education teachers at Cummings Valley Elementary and Tehachapi High, in addition to a teacher moving from Tompkins Elementary to Jacobsen Middle to help accommodate and serve the large incoming 6th grade class.
It is my pleasure to guide and direct the Student Services Department as it continues to support the District as it strives for excellence in all of our programs we offer to the families and students of the greater Tehachapi community. As explained by Superintendent Susan Andreas-Bervel, in her welcome statement, the department is looking ahead to an EPIC school year in 2017-18. Please feel free to contact me by phone or email with any questions you may have.
