I begin my first principalship in the 2015-2016 school year at Golden Hills Elementary School in the beautiful community of Tehachapi. I feel an immense pride in becoming a part of the team here at Golden Hills Elementary. This staff is second to none!
My career in education started in the field of special education. During my college years, I worked as an instructional aide in a variety of special education classrooms. This experience was invaluable, as it helped me to understand the unique needs of every learner. After earning a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, I was hired to teach first grade for the Lancaster School District. In 2006, I moved to Tehachapi, and began my career in the Tehachapi Unified School District teaching primarily fourth grade at Tompkins Elementary. I taught at the elementary level for an total of 13 years. In 2008, I became a "Trainer of Teachers" for the Thinking Maps and Write from the Beginning programs, and have been involved in district wide trainings and implementation since. In 2012, I earned a Master's degree in Educational Administration and a Preliminary Administrative Credential from Cal State Bakersfield. I have served in various school leadership roles over the years, most recently as the Teacher in Charge at Tompkins Elementary.
In addition to a fulfilling career in education, I am a happily married mother of 4 children. My son, Kyle, and my daughter, Daelyn, attend Tehachapi High School. My daughter, Kayla, attends Jacobsen Middle School, and my sweet little Peyton will be two in January.
I truly look forward to serving the students and families of Tehachapi in this position.
