    • Our 8th Grade Promotion recording link will be posted on our JMS website 6/2 @ 6 PM for anyone to enjoy.  The link can be played as many times as you would like through Sunday, June 7th.  We hope you will watch and enjoy with families from the safety of your own homes.  We read names in reverse alphabetical order and by team.  Awards will be shown, as well as three student speeches and a student singer.  You won't want to miss it, please help us celebrate our students!
    • Additionally, the plan for 8th graders on Wed. & Fri. during book return is as follows:
      • They will return their books etc. (in library).  Students may come with 2 adults.
      • They will pick up: promotion program, certificate, picture & awards (in back of library)
      • Go to room 213 for a goodie bag and Polaroid picture (courtesy of PTO)
    • Yearbooks will be delivered in 2-4 weeks.  Deb Haeberle and I are still taking orders by student name.  You may email us your request.  Yearbooks are $30.  When delivered, we will message families in summer to pick up and pay.  If you can’t make it at that time, we will try again upon our return to school.
    • Reminder:  Tdap and Varicella vaccinations required to attend school next year as a 7th grader.
    • The last day of school is June 4th.  4th quarter report cards will be mailed home on June 10th.

    JMS message sent 5/24:

This is JMS with a reminder that we will be closed this Monday and Tuesday due to the Memorial Day Holiday and the snow make up day.

The time for book return is here!  This Wednesday 6th graders may return all text books, library books, band sheet music, and borrowed calculators.  We will need you to see the staggered time slots by last name in order to keep us socially distanced.  Please come with one adult.  Friday will be for 7th graders. Monday, June 1st will be for make ups if you missed this week or if you have students in multiple grades.  8th graders will return materials AND pick up promotion certificates, pictures, awards, etc.  Wednesday, June 3rd and Friday, June 5th.  Please see the times by last name on the following chart.

We have just been notified that the yearbooks will NOT be delivered for another several weeks due to COVID-19.  We anticipate this to be mid to late summer.  They are still available to purchase, so you may reach out to Deb Haeberle or myself if you are requesting to purchase one.  We will either pass out yearbooks at the return of school or have a summer pick up day.  Again, we will keep you posted.

The virtual promotion will be posted on the JMS website the night of June 2nd at 6PM.  The link will be available to click on and view at a time that works best for your “at home” celebration through Sunday, June 7th.  We hope you will enjoy it.

Also, any 8th Graders who signed up to take the Health class should be checking emails regularly, as we are going through the list by order of application.  If you have questions regarding Health, please email Ms. Dyer.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

JMS new messaging system with weekly update sent 5/18/20:
ParentSquare is our new messaging system to replace our old auto dialer.  You should be able to set your preference as to your preferred time to get messages.  Let's hope this works well!

Our first post is in regards to Locker room contents for 7th and 8th graders.
Any students that still have items in their PE locker: please schedule an appointment with the PE locker room teacher to pick up your belongings. In an effort to maintain social distancing, the PE staff will bag up the items in your locker and meet you at the back gate near the fence closest to the football field/pool at a pre-scheduled time.
PE teachers will be on campus the following dates:
Wednesday, May 20; Friday, May 22; Wednesday, May 27; Friday, May 29; Wednesday, June 3
Please email for a specific date and time to pick-up.  All girls need to email Ms. Smith at msmith@teh.k12.ca.us. Boys in Mr. Scaggs's locker room need to email him at lscaggs@teh.k12.ca.us and boys in Mr. Grimes's locker room need to email him at cgrimes@teh.k12.ca.us

We are planning book return dates. We must stagger days and times for the safety of all.   We will send a reminder with exact time frames by last names beforehand.  The hours will be between 9 and 1:00.  Please save the following dates to bring textbooks, library books, or calculators checked out from the JMS library:
    Wednesday, May 27 (sixth graders)
    Friday, May 29 (seventh graders)
Monday, June 1st (multi grade families)
Wednesday, June 3rd and Friday, June 5th (eighth graders*)
*After returning books, 8th graders will be able to pick up their promotion folios, pictures, awards etc.

If yearbooks arrive by these book return dates, we will have a yearbook pick up area out front or in the library (weather dependent) during the same days/times.  Yearbooks may still be ordered by emailing dhaeberle@teh.k12.ca.us to out your student on the list. They are $30 (pay at pick up.)

Our front office will be open Wednesdays and Fridays from 9-1 until June 5th. We will be able to take shot records for any who have them. A reminder that all incoming 7th graders must have proof of Tdap and Varicella to start school.
    Thank you and be well.

    JMS Blackboard Message Sent 5/12/20

Good Evening JMS families.  We want to thank you for your efforts in keeping your students engaged in distance learning.  Our teachers have been using feedback from parents and students to make adjustments to our student workload, Zoom meetings, and online learning platforms.  We encourage you to reach out to any of us via email or phone if you have any questions that we can assist you with.

Preordered yearbooks have not yet been delivered.  We expect delivery end of May.  We also have about 200 yearbooks available to purchase when they arrive.  If you are interested in ordering a yearbook, please email your request (along with the name of your student) to our yearbook teacher Debra Haeberle or myself and we will add your name to the list.  Once yearbooks arrive, we will message out the plan to pick them up.

At this time, we are planning to wait to return school items such as textbooks or borrowed calculators since our current 6th and 7th graders will be able to do this upon our return to school at a later date.

However, our 8th graders may now reach out to the PE teacher of the locker room they are in to schedule an appointment to pick up their locker contents.  We are also planning materials drop off and pick up for 8th graders on June 3rd and 4th. More details to follow.

We also want to share with you that we are planning for a virtual promotion ceremony for our eligible eighth graders.  You will not need to submit anything for this.  We are working hard to make a slideshow using Lifetouch pictures taken in Spring.  If we do not have a photo of your promoting 8th grader, we will email you for one.  This pre-recorded virtual promotion will be made available for families to view no sooner that June 2nd at 6 PM.  We plan to make the recording available through the weekend of June 7th so families could watch it at a time convenient to their household.  We will message 8th grade families with details as we get closer.  We are disappointed that we cannot hold an in person ceremony, but we will do our best to honor our students to the best of our ability.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Stay safe and healthy,

    Mrs. Heitman

    JMS Blackboard Message Sent 5/05/20

JMS is now posting daily announcements for students within their Citizenship Tile in Canvas, in addition to on the front page of our website.  We hope students are listening, as there may be information that is helpful to your household.  For example, we are hoping to get some video submissions from 8th graders who would like to be considered as a speaker or singer in our virtual promotion recording.  They should see announcements for specifics.

On that note, we are planning a virtual promotion and will post the recording for families to use.  More information will come as we get closer.

Also, today is Teacher Appreciation Day and this week we celebrate all school staff in TUSD.  Thanks to those of you who are sending encouraging messages to our teachers, it is truly appreciated!

A reminder that students should be logging in through Clever to access Canvas assignments daily.  If they need help, please have them reach out to one of us!  Email is best, but you may also leave a message at the school by phone.  Voicemail can be forwarded to us.

Yearbooks have not yet been delivered, but we will inform you on how we will be safely distributing them when that happens.

    Stay well!

    Mrs. Heitman

Good Evening JMS Families.  A reminder that free meals (to anyone 18 and under) are still being served Mon. –Thurs. at school sites and other locations.  You do not need to provide any information, just drive up with your children.  For exact times and locations, see the district website under the departments tab, click food services then COVID-19 School Closure Food Services for the full schedule.

Additionally, there is help available for those of you who may have missed the Canvas training opportunities last Thursday and Friday.   Please refer to the JMS website and click on the parents and students tab to find the TUSD slides and videos regarding Canvas and coursework.  Or check out our daily announcements on our Facebook page to get help.  Our teachers are very excited to get Canvas started, but continue to provide learning opportunities from their websites in the meantime!  Lastly, be on the lookout for a district message coming midweek to provide more in-depth information regarding Canvas and grading.

As always, we are here to offer support as needed.  You are always welcome to email any of us!  Thank you and stay healthy.

    Good Afternoon JMS families,
As the superintendent messaged Friday, Chromebook distribution, wifi hotspots, and Canvas training for parents and students is happening this week. I have recorded directions to where this information can be found on the district website.  This is available to watch on the 4/20/20 daily announcement on our JMS website or FB page.  Just click on the daily announcement link and you should be able to play the slideshow.  If you cannot attend any of the Zoom Canvas training this Thursday or Friday, a recording will later be posted.

Until Canvas is available, our JMS teachers are continuing to provide access to materials, resources, and learning on their webpages.  To access their webpages, go to the JMS website at www.teh.k12.ca.us/Domain/10 and click the teachers tab.  Then click on their name.  While accessing our website, be sure to check out the JMS Outreach 2020 montage as well.  We miss school and our students.  Have a wonderful week!
