    National Honor Society Membership Information

In order for students to be nominated for membership to the National Honor Society, students shall:
    • be registered students at Tehachapi High School for at least one semester prior to nomination.
    • be in grade 10, 11, or 12 during the time they are nominated.
    • have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in accordance with the National Honor Society Chapter and the ASB Constitution of NHS.

The Faculty Council will consider students who:
    • have been actively involved in their class, clubs or teams for THS, in particular, if they hold offices for such classes or clubs or are captains of sport teams.
    • are a member of a music program on campus or any group where they represent our school to the community of Tehachapi.

In addition, the Faculty Council is looking for students who have given back to the school and community. Service to the school is primary, after that, community service will be considered. The Council considers students who display qualities of leadership, service, and character at school, at school-related events, and in the community. Once a student is nominated by the Faculty Council, the student may choose whether or not to join the organization. There are no required dues for students to pay; however, students are asked to pay for the honor cords upon acceptance of the nomination at the Induction Ceremony. Members receive the cords at Senior Awards Night and wear them during graduation.

While a Letter of Introduction and Candidate Form are not applications, all information will be seriously considered. A Letter of Introduction and a completed Candidate Form assist the Faculty Council with the fair consideration of your candidacy during the selection process.

Forms are made available in the library during recruitment periods in the Fall and the Spring and are located in the foyer of the Student Services counter located in the Administration building.

If any student has further questions, please see Mrs. Turmezei during break or lunch in the library or send an email with your questions to:  rturmezei@teh.k12.ca.us.

The deadline to submit a Letter of Introduction and a completed Candidate Form is listed on this document and in the Daily Bulletin during recruitment periods in the Fall and Spring.
