    Hello TUSD Families,

As this school year begins to wind down, we have a few updates to share with you. Although our school year is not coming to a traditional close, we do want to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of all of our students this school year, especially the 2020 graduating class. We want to thank parents, guardians, and families for all the support provided to TUSD students throughout the school year. We are thankful for your partnership.

If you have any questions regarding the TUSD virtual graduation celebration or other year-end events, please contact your child's school.

Looking ahead to the 2020-2021 school year, we hope that we will be able to re-open school in the traditional manner, however, it is unclear at this time as to whether students will be attending school in person, or continuing with a distance learning model, or even perhaps a blended model. Although we desire to provide our parents and community with all the details now, we are unable to do so as we continue to wait for direction and guidance from Governor Newsom, as well as Kern Public Health. Student and staff safety will remain TUSD's top priority as we begin planning for the next school year.

In spite of the many uncertainties at this time, we do anticipate beginning the new school year on August 12, 2020. Again, it is undetermined at this time as to whether schools will be physically opened on that date, however, either in person or via distance, we expect to launch the new school year. Our purpose in sharing this anticipated start date with you now is to allow you and your family adequate time to plan for family schedules and needs.

Please be reminded that TUSD will not be providing educational services next week on Monday, May 25th or Tuesday, May 26th, due to the Memorial Day Holiday and the scheduled Snow Make-up Day. Distance learning will resume on Wednesday, May 27th. Due to the holiday, Grab and Go Meals will be provided on Thursday, May 21st, and then resume on Tuesday, May 26th.

We hope that in the coming weeks we will have additional information to share with you. In the meantime, best wishes to you and your family. Stay safe and healthy!
