School Choice
Students who attend Title I-funded schools that are identified for program improvement, corrective action, or restructuring must be given the option of ”School Choice”. This provision allows all students currently attending such a Title I school the option to transfer to another public school; including a public charter school, that is within the District and that is not in program improvement or is not in danger of entering program improvement.
Tehachapi Unified School District currently has two non-PI schools available for transfer requests; Golden Hills Elementary and Cummings Valley Elementary. Title 1 schools that have been identified for Program Improvement Year 1 or above are: Tompkins Elementary.
School bus transportation will be provided for students approved for transfer under the School of Choice program.
